The Australian Diesel Situation is already dire, up to now, the US has been supplying part of their diminishing diesel inventories to Australia. With the US mid-term elections + US diesel prices at record levels, US political events my lead to a 90 day freeze on US exports.
Such an event will have a critical effect upon our upcoming grain harvests.
The ABC Business program has uncovered this extremely concerning possibility too.
How We Got Here
After Prime Minister Billy Hughes visited the Western Front in World War I, he understood that national survival and modern war-fighting depended entirely on oil and fuel. In 1920 the Commonwealth Oil Refinery [COR] was built at Laverton in Victoria in a joint venture with Anglo-Iranian Oil.
Military Commanders — The Push for Fuel Security
▓ Major General Sir Charles Rosenthal, a frontline commander who survived Gallipoli and the Western Front, also watched this mechanized transformation from the floor of the New South Wales Parliament.
He warned that by phasing out draught-horses & bullocks, in favour of combustion engines without building local refineries or fuel reserves, Australia was creating a catastrophic vulnerability in Petrol, Oil, and Lubricants [POL].
▓ Air Vice-Marshal John Blackburn AO [Ret’d —2010] — As a former F/A-18 fighter pilot and Deputy Chief of the Royal Australian Air Force [RAAF], Blackburn became Australia’s leading expert on liquid fuel vulnerability. In 2014, Blackburn authored a groundbreaking report for the NRMA detailing that Australia’s “just-in-time” commercial model left the country with less than 20 days of fuel on the ground if imports were cut off.
▓ Major General Jim Molan AO, DSC [2017–2022] — Molan campaigned relentlessly against Australia’s failure to meet the International Energy Agency’s [IEA] mandated 90-day fuel stockholding rule. He famously warned the government:
“There is no point in having 12 fantastic submarines and 75 F-35s if you’ve got no bloody fuel for them.”
Every successful military Commander over the past 100 years, was ignored by naïve, gullible, green and callow politicians. Here we are once more, on the verge of Fuel Rationing.
Brilliant Leaders Who Also Warned Australia
One of the most brilliant and respected political leaders in the Asia-Pacific, who warned Australia about the risk of National Sovereignty Failure was Lee Kuan Yew.
