Gulf Oil and Gas Producing States have declared Force Majeure ~ a Legal Term which Absolves them from Breaking Contracts in Times of War
As if the global energy supplies were not already in a crisis, we now find that three of the big energy exporting nations have declared Force Majeure.
Gulf countries, including Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, have declared force majeure on gas exports following the United States-Israel war on Iran, now in its third week, and the disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, as Tehran has retaliated across the region, targeting US assets.

Relevance to Australia
In 2001, Australia had 8 major refineries in operation. Today we have only 2!
The Port Stanvac Refinery in South Australia [SA] provides an interesting case.
It was closed by Exxon Mobil in 2009. The SA govt ordered it to be dismantled and the landscape remediated over a 10 year period and prepared for other uses.
It appears that Exxon Mobil has not complied with this request by the SA govt.
