Oil, Petroleum & Gas Prices ~ What Happens if the Middle East War Continues for Weeks?

Since the Israeli & US Attacks upon Iran on 28 FEB 2026, global Energy Market Prices have Spiked ~ Scott Kuru provides his take on What Comes Next for Australians.

I have posted earlier videos by Scott Kuru ~ this is his take on some of the issues facing Australians should this war continue.

« The Iran war is already rippling through the global economy, and Australians will feel it where it hurts most, at the petrol station, at the supermarket, and in the cost of everyday life. In this video, I break down how oil and gas supply shocks flow straight into inflation, interest rate pressure, and the decisions the Reserve Bank of Australia may be forced to make.»

According to News.com, there are fears that this could push fuel prices up by 30% from prices just 2 days ago ~ 06 MAR 2026.

This article quotes Chris Bowen, Australian Minister for Climate Change and Energy;

« Mr Bowen said the government introduced a minimum fuel stock obligation in 2023, effectively creating a strategic reserve designed for events such as the current disruption.

“Australia’s refineries and companies are required to keep a stock of fuel on hand in Australia just for this type of eventuality,” Mr Bowen said.

“And I’m pleased to say that we are currently in excess of the minimum stock obligations – 36 days’ worth of petrol, 34 days’ worth of diesel, and 32 days’ worth of jet fuel on hand as we speak.”

However he did acknowledge the conflict would still place pressure on fuel prices.

“Now, there will be challenges and difficulties, and of course, the major impact on Australia’s petrol prices always will be international oil prices, which will be under real pressure.”»

What if this Middle East War lasts longer than 36 days?

According to the International Energy Agency, 34 days of Diesel Fuel Reserves is well below their recommendations.

Key Details on Expected Diesel Shortage (March 2026):

  • Current Stock Levels: As of March 3, 2026, Australia has 34 days of diesel in reserve. While this is the highest in 15 years, it is well below the 90-day minimum required by the International Energy Agency (IEA).
