Determination the Acoustic Compliance of Wind Farms
In 2014, after receiving consistent reports from residents close to the Cape Bridgewater Wind Farm, owners, Pacific Hydro commissioned a scientific investigation by Acousticians, Steven Cooper and Christopher Chan.
The specific brief was to measure and correlate wind speeds, any sound levels related to those disturbances reported by the local residents.
The 8 week study used the residents diaries to monitor and describe the severity of 3 particular impacts ~ noise ~ vibration ~ sensation, on a ranking of 1 to 5.
The results created a new Global Standard = Cause and Effects —> Sensation Index.
The 3 levels in sound wave frequencies ~ Infrasound ~ Audible Sounds ~ Ultrasound.
Sound waves are measured in Cycles per Second = Hertz
The table below shows hearing ranges of animals, humans and sea mammals.
Acousticians Cooper and Chan included Infrasound Wavelengths [below human hearing levels] in their studies, but not below human sensation levels
It therefore appears that these wavelengths were omitted by previous researchers.
Clinical Findings and Ramifications
Industrial wind turbines ~ create impulsive infrasound & low frequency noise that repeatedly disturbs & interrupts sleep.
Such prolonged & chronic sleep deprivation is acknowledged as a method of torture by the UN Committee against Torture ~ article XXVIII.
Individual public officials risk facing UN criminal charges.
Immediate action is required to address and remediate this situation.
« Those who fail to act, risk being charged under the UN Articles for;
……charges of torture or acquiescence to torture, or for ignoring ongoing cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, about which officials have been repeatedly personally advised.»
