This story begins in 2020, the early days of the Global Pandemic, when clinicians were struggling to find solutions for their very ill patients.
The antiviral medication arsenal did not have the necessary solutions for this catastrophe.
Many clinicians adapted their treatment regimes to off-label medications ~ that is, medicines that were only approved in treating other diseases.
Some of these medicines included Hydroxychloroquine [HCQ] and Ivermectin [IVM].

A brief History of Ivermectin
Since its discovery in the 1970s by the Japanese microbiologist Satoshi Omura and Irish parasitologist William C. Campbell, Ivermectin has become a versatile pharmaceutical.
While well recognised for its use in diverse clinical settings, it has also had a profound humanitarian impact, treating millions of people, particularly the most impoverished worldwide [1].
After 20 years of extensive work to discover, develop and distribute Ivermectin, this significantly helped reduce human suffering from river blindness.
These efforts that were recognized by the award of the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, William Campbell and Satoshi Omura for their leadership on this groundbreaking research.

« The TGA has lifted the ban on off-label prescribing of ivermectin by GPs, but warns the decision is not an endorsement of the drug for prevention or treatment of COVID-19.
Rather, the move reflected high rates of vaccination and hybrid immunity against COVID-19 in Australia, which meant the level of prescribing off-label was unlikely to compromise public health, the watchdog said in a statement.
The decision reverses a September 2021 restriction on GPs prescribing oral ivermectin for off-label uses, including for the treatment and prevention of COVID-19.»
