None of these people are chemical engineers that understand chemistry of fuels, thermodynamics, heat transfer, engines, electricity, mining, and minerals processing etc. How can they determine security, reserves, resources. They do not know the properties of the different fuels. I once had a tractor the started on petrol and then had to switch over to kerosene (do you know why). Do they know the difference between the various grades of petrol, the various grades of kerosene, the various grades of diesel, the various grades of fuel oil, the different types of crude oil? Australia once had coastal shipping to move bulk goods like fuel around to coast to bulk storages. They had oil refineries in every state except Tasmania. There used to be three refineries in Sydney. Did you know BORAL (now a major cement and concrete company) stands for Bitumen Oil Refinery Australia Ltd? They used to obtain bitumen from the coke ovens of BHP at Port Kembla and gas works around Sydney. One can get oil (for refining) from coal, there are huge deposits of oil shale in Queensland and there are considerable oil and gas deposits around Australia.
